Designing A Website for A Photography Company

We were asked to create a logo design and an inspiring website design for a local photography company.

And let me tell you, we were pretty excited about the design possibilities - we just love working with inspiring photography!

First Thing’s First - Logo Design

The team at AS Photography wanted an elegant, fresh looking logo design for their business in muted colour palettes or grey tones. The team here at Lollipop Rocks delivered a range of logo design concepts focused around the letters ‘AS’, with modern typographical elements and muted grey tones. AS Photography were very happy with the results!

Once we had the logo design approved, it was time to start the photography website design.

Time To Start Designing

AS Photography to provided us with a large selection of their recent photography with which to design their pay monthly website. They were keen to use pastel, muted tones for their website as they have a strong focus on wedding photography.

So we set to work. One of the key themes we wanted to portray in the website design was a strong emphasis on imagery. We wanted AS Photography imagery to really dominate the design. We decided to use a square, blocky layout for the overall website design in order to include as many images as possible. We set some of these blocks up as image sliders, set at different speeds and different entry angles so the website looks like it was constantly changing and displaying fresh new content.

We carefully selected a pastel colour palette which complimented AS Photography's logo design and worked well with their image styling.

Image Galleries

Having a range of galleries to display the different services offered by AS Photography was something we were keen to include within the website design. We designed a gallery menu page to show all the different services on offer, then linked those to full page galleries. We also added each gallery to the navigation as a dropdown for an easy UX journey. Here's a quick screen shot, so you can see how it's looking so far:

Image Optimisation

As we all know, large images can really slow down the load speed of a website, so we made sure we re-sized all of the images provided by AS Photography for maximum optimisation.

Mobile Responsiveness

We created a slightly different version of the website to display on mobile to reduce the amount of images shown. This ensured the scroll time was not too long before customers viewed content which creates an easier journey through the website for the customer. We tested the site on mobile and tablet to ensure the website works fluidly across platforms.

Multi-Language Website Design

As AS Photography are a company working globally, we also created a version of the website which translates into Polish, giving more options for customers.

We loved designing this pay monthly website for AS Photography and if you'd like to see the finished website design, you can view it here:
